On the mound: Lefty Kyle Freeland, who figures to be a mainstay in the rotation, pitched two scoreless innings, giving up two hits, walking none and striking out one. Freeland was especially pleased with the command of his slider. … Veteran right-hander Antonio Senzatela, who made only three starts late last season as he worked his way back from Tommy John surgery, tossed two scoreless innings, allowing no hits and striking out two. His fastball reached 96.8 mph. … Right-hander Victor Vodnik, a candidate to be the closer, got nicked up a little bit, giving up a run on two hits in the sixth inning.

    At the plate: New second baseman Thairo Estrada hit a two-run single, and veteran catcher Jacob Stallings smacked a two-run double in Colorado’s four-run first inning.

    Prospect watch: Outfielder Yanquiel Fernandez, 22, entered the game as a designated hitter and hit 2 for 2. He’s batting .375 in the early going. The Rockies love his power potential.
