Shafaq News/ Iran’s Parliament Speaker, Mohammad-BagherGhalibaf, met with the Lebanese President, Joseph Aoun, and the Prime Minister,Nawaf Salam in Beirut.
During the meeting, PM Salam affirmed that the Lebanesegovernment is actively using diplomatic and political channels to pressureIsrael into completing its withdrawal from southern Lebanon, reiterating thegovernment's commitment, as outlined in its ministerial statement, torebuilding areas devastated by the recent Israeli conflict.
Addressing concerns about the airport, Salam underscoredthat ensuring the safety of both the facility and its passengers is the toppriority in managing flights to and from Beirut’s International Airport.
Earlier today, Lebanon’s president welcomed Ghalibaf at thepresidential palace and formally invited him to visit Tehran. During theirmeeting, Ghalibaf congratulated Aoun on his election and emphasized theimportance of strengthening Lebanese-Iranian relations across various sectors.
President Aoun welcomed Speaker Ghalibaf and his delegation,reflecting on Lebanon’s history of losing great leaders and the sacrifices madeduring Israel’s recent aggression to defend the country's unity and stability.
He emphasized Lebanon’s exhaustion from external conflictson its soil and stressed the importance of national unity in confrontingthreats. Aoun echoed Iran’s constitutional principle of safeguarding nationalsovereignty, asserting that no individual or group should undermine a country’spolitical, economic, or military independence under the guise of freedom. “Lebanonpaid a heavy price in defense of the Palestinian cause,” he said, expressinghis hope for "reaching a just solution.”
Praising the outcomes of the Riyadh Summit, particularly itssupport for a two-state solution to the Palestinian issue and recognition ofthe Palestinian Authority as the legitimate representative of the Palestinianpeople.
The President emphasized Lebanon's commitment to fosteringstrong and beneficial relations with Tehran for the mutual interests of bothnations and their people.
