A woman was killed in a head-on vehicle collision Friday night in East Oakland, according to police.
The incident happened just after 11 p.m. Friday at the intersection of 92nd Avenue and San Leandro Street, the Oakland Police Department said.
The woman was driving going eastbound on San Leandro Street at a high rate of speed when she crossed westbound into the traffic lane in the intersection, police said, and collided with a GMC Yukon and BART cement pillar.
The woman was taken to a hospital where she later died from her injuries, the department said. The driver of the Yukon, a man in his 40s from Oakland, suffered minor injuries and is in stable condition.
The name of the woman, who is an Antioch resident in her 50s, has not been released, pending notification of her family.
Police said it is unknown at this time if drugs or alcohol played a factor in the collision.
