New details have emerged this week regarding an alleged altercation that is said to have occurred last summer between Faizon Love and a hotel employee in San Diego, Calif.
Elizabeth Renderos, the hotel employee who was allegedly attacked by Love, filed a civil lawsuit against the Elf star on Tuesday, Feb. 18, according to court documents reviewed by the San Diego-based television news station KNSD and The Los Angeles Times.

Parade reached out to Love’s representatives for comment.
The lawsuit was filed in San Diego County Superior Court. It alleges that Love was attempting to check in at the Sheraton Mission Valley on Aug. 9, 2024, citing a reservation that he reportedly made through a third-party booking app. He was allegedly told that there was no vacancy at the hotel, and was encouraged to contact the app to inquire about getting a refund for any money he might have already spent on a room.
Love, 56, allegedly reacted by grabbing hold of a credit card reader that was sitting on a nearby counter and throwing it at Renderos, who said she was struck in the head. Renderos said she went to a hospital after the alleged attack and was told she had a concussion.
As KNSD reported, Love addressed frustrations with a hotel booking app on Instagram the day after the alleged incident. “Never use this app Hotel tonight !!! They're Frauds,” Love wrote to caption his Aug. 10, 2024, post. He included a screenshot of the Hotel Tonight logo and included text over the image that read, “SCAM” and “PREJUDICE.”
The local district attorney’s office filed a criminal complaint against Love the following month. An arrest warrant was issued for Love on Oct. 2, 2024, and remained active as of Friday, Feb. 21. Love faces a felony charge of assault with a deadly weapon, according to Parade’s review of the warrant.
