User Experience
The Elgato Wave Mic Arm Pro came in a simple retail-style box. All the parts were neatly arranged and set in a cardboard insert so that it was easy to identify each piece. The mic arm came with a simple quick-start assembly guide and all the parts feel premium and very durable. Setting up the mic arm was straightforward. The instructions were clear and easy to follow, making assembly a breeze. Even for those unfamiliar with mic arms, the setup guide makes it very easy to understand.
The Wave Mic Arm Pro consists of two main parts that easily connect together. The top of the arm links together with the bottom section. Both sections have magnetic covers where the cables route through the arm. I didn’t have any issues with pushing the XLR cable through the arm and connecting the cover plates to the cable. I have found what works best for me is to attach the mount to the desk where you want it and then place the sections into it.
Tightening it to the desk or tabletop is easy as it has a standard screwing mechanism controlled by a heavy-duty thumbscrew. The arm feels secure and very stable. The included riser is a great addition for those who need extra height, but I found that I didn’t need it for my particular setup.
So far, my experience with the Wave Mic Arm Pro has been excellent. The arm moves smoothly and silently. It holds my microphone (Shure SM7B) securely in place, even when repositioning frequently. The flexibility of the arm allows for multiple positioning options, whether I need a low-profile setup or an overhead configuration. I have it set as a low-profile mic since the majority of my use ends up being voiceover and general use with the computer.
