ASHLAND – San Leandro police officers shot at but did not wound a vehicle assault suspect Sunday night after locating the suspect and vehicle in Ashland, authorities said.
No officers were injured.
San Leandro police said in a brief news release that about 8:30 p.m. Sunday officers were investigating a vehicular assault in their city.
The release said the investigation led San Leandro police to the area of 164th Avenue and East 14th Street in unincorporated Ashland where the suspect and vehicle were located.
Police did not say if the suspect was a man or woman or how old they are. No other details about the assault were provided, including if someone was actually injured.
The release said that “shortly afterwards, an officer involved shooting occurred involving three San Leandro police officers.”
The release did not say what prompted the officers to fire at the suspect or if a firearm or other weapon was recovered.
San Leandro police said that since the shooting occurred in the jurisdiction of the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office they would be the agency to release additional information.
