OAKLAND — A woman was arrested and charged with murdering another woman in a recent shooting at a local gas station, records show.
Lanae Adams, 28, was charged last week with murdering 29-year-old Darnesha Williams in a Jan. 2 shooting at the Kwik Serve on the 2200 block of East 12th Avenue in Oakland. Williams was shot while driving away from the station in a stolen Audi, according to police.
The shooting was caught by surveillance video. Police say that investigators recognized Adams’ distinctive tattoos, and later compared them to her Facebook and Instagram pages, leading to a positive identification.
Adams was arrested on Feb. 11. She is being held at Santa Rita Jail in Dublin without bail and is due in court on Tuesday to enter a plea. Authorities haven’t disclosed a motive but described it as a targeted shooting.
Police say that Adams got a ride to the gas station from another person before entering the Audi and attempting to drive off.
The shooting occurred around 5 minutes before midnight. Williams was transferred to a hospital and pronounced dead on Jan. 3.
