(KRON) – An Oakland resident was arrested for allegedly stealing a car after test-driving the vehicle at a Colma dealership, according to the Colma Police Department.
At 2:12 p.m. on Sunday, Colma police officers were dispatched to a car dealership in the 900 block of Serramonte Boulevard for a vehicle theft.
Responding officers were informed that a man took the vehicle for a test drive and returned the vehicle with the keys. The suspect, according to police, told the associates he would be back to buy the car. However, he stole the vehicle keys off an employee’s desk and drove off in the car.
According to Colma PD, officers found the car parked nearby.
The driver, identified as 38-year-old Juan Matias, was arrested and booked into the San Mateo County Jail for suspicion of taking a vehicle without the owner’s consent and having a stolen vehicle.
