A live wild goose found near a chicken run in Louisville tested positive for bird flu on Tuesday.
Boulder County Health officials said the bird was found on private property near a flock of chickens kept in the run.
Bird flu has been found spreading through poultry operations and cattle in Colorado since March 2024. According to the Colorado Department of Health and Environment, 10 people have tested positive for bird flu since May 2024.
There is still a low risk of the bird flu spreading to humans, according to Boulder County Public Health officials.
There are several actions people can take to avoid getting bird flu and to protect their animals.
People should not consume unpasteurized milk and fully cook eggs and poultry.
