Pro Football Focus draft analyst Trevor Sikkema released his NFL comparisons for top draft prospects this week. His comp for Burden was another former SEC receiver — Deebo Samuel of the San Francisco 49ers (drafted out of South Carolina).
Here’s what Sikkema had to say about his Burden-Samuel comp:
Burden is one of the best yards-after-catch receivers in this class – and he would still be even if you included some studs in previous draft cycles. He reminds me of Deebo Samuel in how the objective should just be to get the ball in his hands and watch him make magic happen. Burden has recorded over 1,100 yards after the catch over the last two years.
Samuel is just a touch taller and a bit heavier than Burden, but it’s close. As Sikkema noted, both guys are best when they get the ball in space and have room to create chaos.

Round 1 of the NFL Draft is scheduled for Thursday, April 24, at Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wisconsin. We’ll see when Burden hears his name called and which team decides to draft the dynamic Mizzou playmaker.
Burden finished his career with the Tigers with 192 catches for 2,263 yards and 21 touchdowns. He added 34 carries for 234 yards and 4 scores. He also had a punt return TD back in 2022.
