RALEIGH, N.C. — Elma Jane “Betty” Lewis Burnett, affectionately known to her family as “Grammy,” passed away Friday, Dec. 27, 2024, at the age of 88.
She was born Nov. 17, 1936, to the late Texas Edward Lewis and Elma Elizabeth Todd Totherow in Warren.
Betty was a member of Wendell United Methodist Church. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, and will be dearly missed.
Betty is survived by her daughters, Darlene Perone, Erma Moy (Randall), Barbara Adamson (Randal Sanchez) and Sally Burnett; siblings, Ira Totherow, Trudy Durig, Darlene Hembree, Carol Kahn and Mike Totherow: grandchildren, Randy Moy (Lisa Morgan), Billy Snelbaker (Lori), Elizabeth Carney (Jeff), Stephanie Burnett, Felicia Brady (Jon), Sean Mueller, Ira Burnett, Jacob Snelbaker (Shawnie), Amanda Garcia (Ricky) and Samantha Capo (Terry Sinclair); 16 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband, William; four sisters; and one brother.
A memorial service was held 1:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 30, 2024, at Wendell United Methodist Church, Wendell, North Carolina.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Betty’s honor to the American Heart Association.
