15 T-Wolves reach Academic All-Canadian status – My Prince George Now

Several UNBC Timberwolves are exceling in the classroom as they are in their respective sports once again.

On Tuesday, the university recognized 15 student-athletes as Academic All-Canadians for the 2023-2024 school year.

    The annual U SPORTS Academic All-Canadian ceremony and dinner, presented by the Murdoch Veterinary Clinic, was held this evening in the Charles McCaffrey Hall at UNBC and honoured students who have achieved a Grade Point Average of 3.67 (an A- letter grade) or higher.

    “One of the most rewarding parts of our year is when we get to recognize a special group of student-athletes who have achieved Academic All-Canadian status,” said Loralyn Murdoch, UNBC Director of Athletics and Recreation. “The 15 individuals recognized today have all played a valuable role in maintaining a standard and a culture of success at UNBC.”

    During the 2023-24 school year, it was the UNBC Women’s basketball team who captured the Office of the Provost Academic Achievement award thanks to their collective GPA of 3.44. The Office of the Provost award is awarded annually to the Timberwolves varsity team with the highest GPA during the season. It marks the fifth consecutive year that the Women’s Basketball team has captured the award.
