With district play hitting the home stretch around the Lone Star State and the UIL playoffs quickly approaching, the 2024-25 Texas boys and girls high school basketball season is heating up.

    Several of the Big Country’s sharpest shooters and most prolific playmakers put on electric performances to power their teams to pivotal victories in district competition.

    Here’s a closer look at the Big Country’s top performers on the basketball court for the week of Feb. 3-9, 2025:

    Zander Abila, Knox City boys basketball

    Abila finished with a game-high 28 points in the Greyhounds’ 79-61 victory over Harold.

    Jaxson Browne, Westbrook boys basketball

    Brown dropped back-to-back double-doubles in Westbrook’s wins over Roby (52-29) and Hermleigh (62-41). He tallied 22 points, 10 rebounds and two steals versus Roby, and he finished with 14 points, 11 rebounds and three assists against Hermleigh.

    Isaiah Carrillo, Abilene Wylie boys basketball

    Carrillo dropped a game-high 26 points in a 69-65 loss to Wichita Falls Memorial and scored a game-high 17 points in the Bulldogs’ 58-42 victory against crosstown rival Abilene Cooper.

    Thereza Enduki, Abilene Wylie girls basketball

    Enduki scored a team-high 15 points in a 46-35 win against Abilene Cooper to help Wylie complete a perfect run through District 4-5A.

    Keegan Hayes, Benjamin boys basketball

    Hayes dropped a season-high 45 points on 20-of-35 shooting with nine steals, six rebounds and five assists in the Mustangs’ 67-48 win over Crowell. He also recorded a quadruple-double in Benjamin’s 66-29 victory against Vernon Northside, which featured 17 points, 20 rebounds, 10 assists, 10 steals and a block.

    Destiny Jamison, Comanche girls basketball

    Jamison recorded a double-double with 17 points and 12 rebounds to lead the Maidens to a 52-32 win against Tolar.

    Kyson McGee, Hamlin boys basketball

    McGee scored a team-high 14 points in the Pied Pipers’ runaway 74-14 win over Rotan.

    Alex Terrell, Comanche boys basketball

    Terrell tallied 20 points, five rebounds and two steals in a loss to Tolar. He also racked up 17 points, seven rebounds and four steals in a 32-26 road win over Breckenridge.

    Maddie Underwood, Clyde girls basketball

    Underwood helped Clyde take state-ranked Jim Ned down to the wire in a 39-30 loss when she tallied a 16-point, 10-rebound double-double.

    Baylor Wright, Coahoma girls basketball

    Renteria tallied a team-high 24 points on 9-of-17 shooting with five steals, four rebounds, four assists and a block to power the Bulldogs to a 60-26 victory against Denver City.

    Carter Wyatt, Abilene High boys basketball

    Wyatt scored 10 points and grabbed five rebounds on senior night at Abilene High to lead the Eagles to a pivotal 39-37 win over Wichita Falls Memorial in District 4-5A action.
