Texas announced a tweak to its football schedule for this fall involving one of its non-conference games.
Chris Del Conte, Texas’s athletic director, announced in his weekly newsletter that the Longhorns’ home game against Sam Houston will be moved up a week to Sept. 20 in Austin. The showdown between Lone Star State schools was originally scheduled for Sept. 27.
So now Texas will close out its non-conference schedule with that game against Sam Houston. The Longhorns’ non-conference schedule also includes a titanic season-opening road game at Ohio State on Aug. 30, which will be a rematch of last season’s College Football Playoff semifinal thriller. The non-conference schedule also includes home games against San Jose State on Sept. 6 and UTEP on Sept. 13.
After the non-conference schedule concludes, Texas will have a bye week before opening SEC play with a showdown at Florida on Oct. 4.
