Paul Finebaum and his wife, Linda, are reportedly set to move back to Birmingham, Alabama.
Finebaum confirmed the news to AL.com this week, stating that they felt it was the “right time” to move back after nearly 12 years away. The Birmingham Business Journal previously reported that Finebaum purchased a mansion in the Mountain Brook area.
AL.com reports that Finebaum’s move will not have any impact on his responsibilities with ESPN. Finebaum signed a new contract with the World Wide Leader in 2024 and is expected to continue as a leading voice in the college football world for the network. Finebaum’s show is also expected to continue to originate from Charlotte, per the network.
“While Paul is shifting his primary residence back to Birmingham, ‘The Paul Finebaum Show’ will continue to originate from Charlotte,” an ESPN spokesman said in a statement obtained by AL.com.
Finebaum originally grew his radio career while working in Birmingham beginning in the 1980s. By the early 2000s, Finebaum was a nationally-respected voice in college football — particularly in SEC country as he led the Paul Finebaum Radio Network. He signed on with ESPN in 2013 to create The Paul Finebaum Show for the SEC Network.
