No. 20 Arizona men’s basketball hit the paint hard in a show of physicality to beat No. 13 Texas Tech 82-73 on Saturday, avenging its lone loss in Big 12 play.
It enjoyed a balanced approach offensively with five players scoring at least 14 points each, led by starting guards Caleb Love and Jaden Bradley tying for 16 each. The Wildcats had just 54 points in the first meeting, a total they surpassed with nearly 12 minutes remaining.
The win kept Arizona (17-6, 11-1) tied with No. 5 Houston atop the Big 12 standings with a matchup between the two coming on Saturday in Tucson. They have two games separating them and third-place Texas Tech (18-5, 9-3).
Love and Bradley did a great job setting up big men Henri Veesaar (15 points, eight rebounds and two blocks) and Tobe Awaka (14 points, 11 rebounds and one block) for easy buckets, as the two bigs shared the floor for a considerable amount of the game.

Arizona was especially dominant inside in the second half, where it found all of its 43 points either at the rim (13 layups, including five dunks) or the free throw line (15 of 19), except for one mid-range jumper by K.J. Lewis, who finished with 15 points and two blocks.
Arizona won the paint points margin 48-28, the rebounding 42-29 and second chance points 13-10. The Wildcats have outrebounded their opponents in 19 of 23 games this season.

Before the heavyweight matchup between Arizona and Houston on Saturday, the Wildcats will first face Kansas State in Manhattan on Tuesday at 6 p.m. MST.
