Mrs. Maryanna Gibbs Lawrence, age 90 of the Stonewall community passed away on Sunday, February 2, 2025.
Mrs. Lawrence was a daughter of the late Walter Clemon Gibbs and Edna Mae Ashley Gibbs. She was married to the late Kenneth Irvin Lawrence who passed away on January 6, 2005, in 1952. She was also preceded by a son: Mark Lawrence who passed away on March 20, 2020.
Maryanna enjoyed volunteering with the 4H Club, being a co-owner of the Woodjammer Restaurant, and managing rental properties. She treasured being outdoors in the garden and helping on the family farm. In her later years, she worked as a cook at the hospital and nursing home in Carthage. She found joy in sewing, cooking for her family, and playing the piano. Maryanna loved being on the go and was always up for a trip to town or a visit to see family and friends.
The family thanks Mary Ellen, Phil, and Jennifer Parker for taking care of Maryanna in her home the last couple of years. The family is also grateful for the caring nurses at The Pavilion in Carthage and Lebanon, TN.
Mrs. Lawrence is survived by two children; Chris (Justina) Lawrence of Lebanon, TN and Phillip Lawrence of Gordonsville, TN. Daughter-in-Law; Mary Ellen Lawrence of New Middleton, TN. Grandchildren; Ken (Janae) Lawrence, April (Teddy) Burress, Aaron (Stephanie) Lawrence, Lori Beth (Eric) Ramey and Eric Lawrence and ten great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Lawrence are scheduled to be conducted from the Gordonsville Chapel of Bass Funeral Homes on Saturday, February 8, 2025 at 2PM with John Griffin officiating. Interment will follow in the Gordonsville Cemetery.
Visitation with the family will be at the Gordonsville Chapel of Bass Funeral Homes on Saturday from 11AM until service time at 2PM.
In lieu of flowers, the Lawrence family requests memorials be made to Gordonsville Church of Christ or Compassionate Hands Ministries in Lebanon, TN.
