There will be more money to go around for Canadian Football League players in 2025.

On Wednesday, the league announced an increase in the salary cap for this upcoming season from $5,525,000 in 2024 to $6,062,365 in 2025.
Previously, the league and the CFL Players’ Association negotiated for a $125,000 increase in 2025 from the collective bargaining agreement signed in 2022. However, the increase will now be $412,365 following the success of the league’s revenue growth sharing model.

In total, it will be a $537,365 increase on the cap from last year factoring in the previously negotiated amount. The league said the collective bargaining agreement’s revenue growth sharing model saw “CFL gains in excess of the initial baseline revenue from the previous season triggering a revenue growth share with the CFL Players’ Association.”
“The strategy we put in place in 2022 has strengthened our league,” CFL commissioner Randy Ambrosie, who is set to retire this year, said in a media release. “Our extensive product review has yielded a fun, fast and entertaining game — one that attracts attention and inspires people to fall in love with Canadian football. Fans and partners have leaned in, investing in the potential and promise of our great game.
“The past three seasons have seen year-over-year growth in attendance and gameday revenue. Our owners are more committed and stronger than ever before, and the business community has recognized this success in our game. This wave of support has triggered our growth sharing model, signalling a bright future ahead, and we couldn’t be more excited.”
