Buffy the Vampire Slayer, which ended its original, seven-season run more than 20 years ago, is readying a comeback. Deadline reports that a revival series is "nearing a pilot order from Hulu, with Sarah Michelle Gellar expected to star, reprising her signature role as Buffy Summers."
According to the outlet, the pilot, written by Nora and Lilla Zuckerman (Poker Face), would be directed by Chloé Zhao, the Oscar-winning director of Nomadland and a famous Buffy fan.

Not yet, but Deadline reports that a pilot order is on its way at Hulu, and a writers room for the series is close to opening up shop.

Yes. If the show were to move forward, which is looking likely, Gellar will reprise her iconic role as Buffy Summers.

So far, only Gellar has been confirmed, but Deadline reports that other cast members are "likely" to return as well. Alyson Hannigan? Michelle Trachtenberg? Time will tell!
