Three Canadians took to the track in Boston this weekend.
Racing against a stacked field of international stars, Charles Philibert-Thiboutot, Audrey Leduc and Kieran Lumb were wicked awesome.
CPT’s Record Run
Charles Philibert-Thiboutot expanded his long list of Quebec records Saturday, setting a new provincial record with in the men’s 5,000 metres with his time of 13:10.71 at the Boston University John Thomas Terrier Classic.
The two-time Olympian didn’t just barely set a new record, either. There was no photo finish to decide if he had shaved a fraction of a second off his previous mark. Philibert-Thiboutot cut 20 seconds of his time, and finishing 6th in the race.
Leduc’s Quickest Season Start
Audrey Leduc made her professional debut at the New Balance Indoor Grand Prix on Sunday.
After a breakout 2024 season, the sprint specialist got off to a fast start in 2025, clocking in with a time of 7.35 seconds in her women’s 60 metre heat – good for her fastest season debut ever. She would finish 4th in that heat and did not qualify for the final.
Lumb Hangs With the Best of the Best
Kieran Lumb lined in a very strong men’s 1500 metre field and held his own, also at the New Balance Indoor Grand Prix.
Lumb put up a speedy time of 3:38.57, good for 8th place in Boston.
