Premier League Darts 2025 – schedule, prize money and how to watch

The darts season continues apace with players getting ready to step up to the oche this week for start of the Premier League Darts 2025.

Luke Littler is the reigning champion after beating Luke Humphries 11–7 in the final last year.

    He begins his defence of the title in Belfast this Thursday.

    The tournament is played over 16 weeks in venues across the UK and Europe, organised by the Professional Darts Corporation (PDC), with eight of the top players in the world competing against each other.

    It culminates with a play-off showdown in London at the end of May.

    When is the 2025 Premier League Darts?

    The 2025 Premier League Darts begins this Thursday 6 February at the SSE Arena in Belfast and finishes on Thursday 29 May at the O2 Arena in London.

    All eight players compete against each other once each Thursday in weeks one to seven and again in weeks nine to15.

    In weeks eight and 16, they are drawn based on league standings.

    Players earn two points for a semi-final appearance, three points for a runner-up finish and five points for a final win.

    And after the 16 weeks are up, the top four players in the table will compete in the two knockout semi-finals, with first playing fourth and second playing third.

    For those unable to attend in person, the matches can still be watched on television.

    Sky Sports has exclusive rights and will be showing all the matches live.

    Viewers will need to subscribe to Sky Sports, which starts from £20 a month.

    Who’s competing in this year’s Premier League Darts?

    Only eight players can compete in the league each year: the top four players on the PDC Order of Merit automatically qualify plus four wildcards.

    This year the top four are: Luke Littler, Luke Humphries, Michael van Gerwen and Rob Cross.

    The four picked as wildcards by the PDC are: Nathan Aspinall, Stephen Bunting, Chris Dobey and Gerwyn Price,

    Currently ranked as world number one, Luke Humphries is a former PDC World Champion and was runner-up in last year’s Premier League Darts.

    The 29-year-old, from Newbury in Berkshire, is also the reigning World Matchplay, PDC World Masters champion and back-to-back Players Championship Finals champion. 

    He has won has won 21 PDC titles.

    Teen darts sensation Luke Littler is the reigning champion of the Premier League Darts having beat Humphries last year.

    The 18-year-old, from Warrington in Cheshire, is ranked world number two currently and is the PDC World Champion after winning the 2025 World Championship.

    He has won 11 senior PDC titles and is the reigning Grand Slam and World Series Finals champion.

    Michael van Gerwen is ranked number three in the world of darts players right now.

    The 35-year-old, from Boxtel in the Netherlands, is a also a three-time PDC World Champion and a six-time World Grand Prix champion.

    He has been the Premier League Darts winner seven times, more than any other player.

    Rob Cross

    Rob Cross is currently ranked number four in the world among darts platers.

    The 34-year-old, from Pembury in Kent, is a former PDC World Champion and has has won 20 senior PDC titles.

    He has also won five World Series of Darts titles.

    Stephen Bunting, currently ranked number five in the world, is in the tournament as a wildcard.

    The 39-year-old, from Liverpool, is a former is a former British Darts Organisation (BDO) World Champion.

    He has won five PDC titles, including the 2024 PDC Masters and 2025 Bahrain Darts Masters.

    Gerwyn Price is ranked number nine in the world as a darts player, having been the world number one on three occasions from 2021 to 2022.

    A former professional rugby player, from Markham in Wales, he has won 37 senior PDC titles to his name including the 2021 World Grand Prix and two World Series of Darts Finals titles in 2020 and 2022.

    The 39-year-old also won three Grand Slam titles in 2018, 2019 and 2021.

    Chris Dobey has a current world ranking for darts player of 11th and enters the tournament as a wildcard.

    The 34-year-old, from Bedlington in Northumberland, was the was the 2023 Masters champion.

    He has five PDC ranking titles to his name.

    Nathan Aspinall is ranked number 10 in the world of darts players at present, dropping from a peak of number four last year.

    The 33-year-old, from Stockport in Greater Manchester, has won eight senior PDC titles including the 2023 World Matchplay.

    He has also won the 2019 UK Open and 2019 US Darts Masters.

    How much prize money is on offer?

    The prize fund for this year’s Premier League Darts remains at £1m, which will divided among the eight players.

    There is a £10,000 bonus on offer during each of the first 16 weeks of the tournament. The winner each night will take home the bonus each night.

    But the majority of the prize pot will be split according to the final standings:

    Winner – £275,000 Runner-up – £125,000 Semi-finalists – £85,000 Fifth place – £75,000 Sixth place – £70,000 Seventh place – £65,000 Eighth place – £60,000
