Police arrested a driver accused of fleeing the scene of a deadly crash in Gardena on Sunday, Feb. 2.
Officers responded at 7:38 a.m. to Van Ness Avenue and 135th Street, where they found a driver unresponsive in their vehicle after a crash, according to the Gardena Police Department.
The driver died from their injuries, and paramedics pronounced them dead at the scene. The driver’s identity was not immediately released.
When police tried to check the condition of the other driver, they realized she was gone.
Officers with the Los Angeles Police Department found 29-year-old Marian James and arrested her outside her Los Angeles home. She was later booked at the Gardena Police Department on suspicion of manslaughter.
Investigators believe the woman was driving southbound on Van Ness, when she ran a red light and hit the other vehicle.
