The Burn Institute of San Diego has appointed Peter Callstorm, former chief executive office of the San Diego Workforce Partnership, as its new executive director.
His past positions include CEO of Workforce Partnership, where he worked for 11 years and chief executive of Partnership With Industry for 15 years. Since 1986, he has been fundamental in creating services that support unhoused populations, people with disabilities, and other under-represented job seekers.
“Peter brings the experience, track record, and servant leadership needed to support and advance our important mission,” said David Ott, President of the Board. “We are delighted to have him join the team.”
The new position marks a comeback for Callstorm into the nonprofit human services field after allegations of discrimination were made against him in a lawsuit filed in December 2022.
The month prior, an anonymous letter was sent by twelve members of the Workforce Partnership’s leadership team that detailed a toxic work environment under Callstorm.
However, after an investigation by Los Angeles-based law firm Adams, Duerk, & Kamenstein, the allegations were declared to be without merit.
Today, Callstorm has plans to uphold the Burn Institute’s mission to not only reduce the number of burn victims in the community but also spread awareness on fire and burn prevention.
“It’s a pleasure to join the Burn Institute team and to contribute to their long and distinguished record of service to our region,” Callstorm said. “I look forward to working with the board, staff, and volunteers and supporting our critical programs and services.”
