This week’s Hometown Hero, presented by Hendrick Southpoint, is Carrie Donley.
Donley is a Carrboro resident who has been doing her part to fight climate change and save the environment. She started composting two years ago and with the funds from a grant she got from the Town of Carrboro, she got the company Compost Now to begin servicing her neighborhood of Fair Oaks. With Donley’s program, she made a tool kit to make it easier for other neighborhoods to begin composting and since then, four other neighborhoods have begun composting as well. The neighborhoods that have been composting have converted almost 10,000 pounds of waste.
