High school sports results (Friday): Resurrection Christian boys basketball extends its winning streak, Highland boys and Resurrection girls lose for first time 

FRIDAY

Boys basketball

Resurrection Christian 67, Strasburg 51: The Cougars extended their season-long winning streak to 12 games with a victory over Strasburg in a 3A Patriot League game. Resurrection Christian led 35-17 at halftime and improved to 4-0 in the league and 12-0 overall.

Severance 74, Greeley Central 27: The Silver Knights won their fifth game in a row and are tied for the lead in the 5A/4A Longs Peak League standings after a win over the Wildcats. Severance is 7-1 in the league and 10-5 overall. Mountain View is also 7-1 in the league. Greeley Central lost its third straight game and is 2-5 in the league and 4-9 overall.

    Yuma 55, Highland 41: The visiting Outlaws snapped Highland’s 11-game winning streak since the start of the season with a 3A Patriot League win in Ault. Brody Sheffield led Yuma with 17 points. The Outlaws scored 20 in the third quarter and are tied with Resurrection Christian for place in the league at 4-0. Yuma is 11-2 overall. Sawyer Morgan led Highland (2-1, 11-1) with 24 points.

    Rocky Mountain 80, Windsor 76: The Lobos handed Windsor its first loss in the 6A/5A/4A Northern League, snapping the Wizards’ six game winning streak. Rocky Mountain is 4-1 in the league and 7-9 overall. Windsor is 4-1 in the league and 12-4 overall.

    Berthoud 53, Northridge 39: The Spartans defeated Northridge in a 5A/4A Longs Peak League game, sending the Grizzlies to their fifth straight loss. Berthoud is 4-4 in the league and 5-9 overall. Northridge has a 1-7 league record and 3-11 overall.

    Otis 69, Briggsdale 36: The Bulldogs led 49-15 at halftime and defeated the Falcons in a nonconference game. The win was the sixth in a row for Otis, 8-2 overall. Briggsdale is 4-7.

    Fort Collins 70, Greeley West 44: Senior Henry Peterson scored 19 points, one of four players in double figures in points for the Lambkins in a Northern League win over the Spartans. Freshman Spiro Palmer added 14 points for Fort Collins, 2-3 in the league and 4-10 overall. Brady Boros and Griffin Campain scored 11 and 10 points for Fort Collins. Greeley West is 0-6 in the league and 1-13 overall.

    Prairie 53, Evangel Christian Academy 39: Prairie won the nonconference game over the Eagles. Prairie is 1-1 in the 1A North Central League and 5-8 overall.

    Windsor 70, Rocky Mountain 52: The Wizards won their fifth game in a row to remain undefeated in the 6A/5A/4A Northern League standings. Windsor is 5-0 overall and 10-4 overall. Rocky Mountain is 4-1 in the league and 10-5 overall.

    Severance 58, Greeley Central 50: Severance improved to 3-5 in the 5A/4A Longs Peak League and 5-9 overall with a win over the Wildcats. Greeley Central is 3-4 in the league and 8-5 overall.

    Highland 60, Yuma 59: The host Huskies held off Yuma in a 3A Patriot League win in Ault. The win was the third straight for Highland, 3-0 in the league and 7-5 overall. Yuma is 2-2 and 7-6.

    Northridge 44, Berthoud 31: The Grizzlies jumped out to a big lead on Berthoud and went on to a 5A/4A Longs Peak League win over the Spartans. The win was Northridge’s fourth in a row. The Grizzlies are 4-4 in the league and 8-6 overall.

    Briggsdale 49, Otis 35: The Falcons led 26-14 at halftime and defeated the host Bulldogs for a seventh straight win. Briggsdale is 9-1 overall.

    Fort Collins 57, Greeley West 20: The Lambkins snapped a two game losing streak with a Northern League win over Greeley West. Fort Collins is 2-3 in the league and 4-10 overall. Greeley West is 0-6 in the league and 2-12 overall.

    Strasburg 67, Resurrection Christian 63 (OT): Strasburg outscored Resurrection Christian 10-6 in overtime, sending the Cougars to their first loss of the season. Resurrection Christian, which had won 12 straight to start the season, outscored Strasburg 31-23 in the second half. Strasburg remained undefeated in the league at 4-0 and 9-2 overall. RCS is 3-1 and 12-1.

    Prairie 47, Evangel Christian 46: Prairie held off the Eagles for its third straight win after a nonconference game. Prairie is 1-1 in the 1A North Central League and 8-5 overall.

    Boys wrestling

    Greeley West 44, Riverdale Ridge 32: Marcelo Marquez (150), Tagen Becher (157), Halen Bohanon (175), Moses Barton (190), Ben Feinberg (106), Alfonso Aragon (120), Julian Chavez (126) and Giovanni Portales (132) won matches for the Spartans.

    Greeley West 48, Greeley Central 33: Julian Chavez at 126 and Giovanni Portales at 132 pinned their Greeley Central opponents, helping the Spartans to a win in a rivalry match against the Wildcats.

    Riverdale Ridge 55, Greeley Central 24: Noah Garcia-Salazar (150), Daniel Romero (106), Brandon Lara (120) and Nickoli Brown (126) were the Wildcats’ winners against Riverdale Ridge.

    Roosevelt 46, Mead 27: The Roughriders won the first six bouts behind Travis Long (132), Malakii Martin (138), Chris LaLonde (144), Peyton Wright (150), Jacobo Rosales (157) and Thomas Dunn (165). Long, Martin and LaLonde started the match with pins and Rosales also pinned his opponent for a 29-0 lead.

    Cheyenne East 54, Eaton 21: Paxton Pettinger (157), Blake Hawkins (113), Ethan Deal (138) and Brayden Betsworth (150) were Eaton’s winners in a loss to Cheyenne East from Cheyenne, Wyoming.

    Boys ice hockey

    Poudre 4, Resurrection Christian 2: A Poudre School District team scored all four goals in the first two periods to defeat the Cougars in a 5A League 4 win. The win was the third straight for Poudre, 3-0-1 in the league and 9-1-2 overall. Resurrection Christian is 2-3 in the league and 5-9-1 overall.

    Boys wrestling

    Platte Valley 44, University Schools 35: With University holding a slim lead in the team scoring, Platte Valley 150-pounder Miguel Contreras pinned Isaiah Zamora to help the Broncos to a win in a tri-meet with Valley High School. Contreras took down Zamora in 3-minutes, 5 seconds. Jason Harrison (175), Oscar Reinhart (190), Treyton Kneebone (215), Andrew Cockroft (106) and Logan Vannest (132) also won their matches for Platte Valley.

    Valley 55, Platte Valley 24:  Rocky Hoffschneider (175), Xavier Garcia (106), Isaiah Romero (113), Jacen Weese (120), Carlos Corral (138), Aydeen Salgado (144), Garrett McGirl (150) and Nehemiah Whaley (157) won matches for the Vikings.
