AUSTIN (KXAN) — A four-year-old girl died Wednesday after a fire broke out in an RV in Spicewood, according to the Burnet County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO).
According to the sheriff’s office, 911 received a call around 4:15 p.m. regarding an RV on fire in the 500 block of Deer Path Way.
BCSO said first responders were unable to rescue the girl, but both parents were taken to the hospital for treatment of minor burns or smoke inhalation.
The fire was in the jurisdiction of the Burnet County Emergency Services District # 9/Spicewood Fire Rescue; however, Travis County ESD 8/Pedernales Fire did assist with the incident.
ESD 8 sent a battalion chief and one engine company as requested by Spicewood Fire Rescue.
Preliminary reports said a space heater may have caused this fire, according to BCSO.
