The rich got richer Thursday – and at the Padres’ expense.

Reliever Tanner Scott – the Padres acquired the left hander at the trade deadline last year – signed a $72 million, four-year contract with the Dodgers, raising the World Series champions’ offseason spending to $452 million on eight players.

Another big-money club, the Braves – at least it wasn’t L.A. – signed Jurickson Profar, who, last season, in his first full year after returning to the Padres in 2023, had a career year.

The outfielder set personal highs with a .280 batting average and also in home runs with 24 and RBI with 85. He started in left field for the National League in the All-Star Game and earned his first Silver Slugger Award at season’s end.

Profar was awarded for his efforts with a $42 million, three-year deal by Atlanta, a year after the Padres signed him for the bargain price of $1 million.

Scott, also a first-time All-Star last year, went 9-6 with a 1.75 ERA and 22 saves for Miami and San Diego. He struck out 84 and walked 36 in 72 innings.

As for the arch rival Dodgers, they’ve had a very active off-season – and the Padres, ahem, less so.

After winning their second title in five years, L.A. kept utilityman Tommy Edman with a $74 million, five-year contract, outfielder Teoscar Hernández with a $66 million three-year deal and right-hander Blake Treinen for $22 million over two years.

Los Angeles has added Scott, left-hander Blake Snell ($182 million for five years and another former Padre), outfielder Michael Conforto ($17 million for one season) and second baseman Hyeseong Kim ($12.5 million for three years),

They also surged ahead of the Padres in the race to sign pitcher Roki Sakaki, who agreed last week to a minor league contract with the Dodgers for a $6.5 million signing bonus.
