What would happen if a pattern of numbers was found to hold the key to unlocking all the world’s computers?
This is the premise to the latest thriller series from Apple TV+.
After the success of White Lotus and One Day, Leo Woodall now stars as a maths postgraduate at the University of Cambridge on the brink of a discovery about prime numbers which has placed a target on this back.
The series has been written by Steve Thompson, a former maths teacher and the creative force behind episodes of Dr Who and Sherlock.
And it features a stellar cast including David Morrissey, Sidse Babett Knudsen and Stephen Rea.

If he succeeds in finding a pattern in prime numbers, he will hold the key to every computer in the world.
However, he soon begins to realise there is an unseen enemy trying to destroy his idea before it’s even born.
This throws him into the orbit of Taylah Sanders, a National Security Agency (NSA) agent played by Quintessa Swindell.
She has been tasked with watching and reporting on the mathematician’s behaviour.
Together, they start to unravel a troubling conspiracy with Edward at the heart of it.

Leo Woodall leads the cast as Edward Brooks, a maths postgraduate student at the University of Cambridge on the verge of a breakthrough.
Woodall, 28, will be well-known to television audiences as Essex wide-boy Jack in the HBO satirical series White Lotus.
He also starred as Dexter Mayhew in the Netflix series One Day, which earned him a National Film Award nomination.
And he is due to appear in the latest Bridget Jones film Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy which premieres next month.
Quintessa Swindell
Quintessa Swindell stars as Taylah Sanders (Photo: Apple TV+)Quintessa Swindell takes on the role of Taylah Sanders, who works for the US National Security Agency.
The 27-year-old has appeared in the Netflix teen drama Trinkets and the 2022 superhero film Black Adam.
They also played Laila in the HBO drama In Treatment in 2021.

Sidse Babett Knudsen appears in the drama as Professor Andrea Lavin.
The Danish actress, 56, achieved international recognition for her leading role as fictional Danish prime minister Birgitte Nyborg in the Danish TV series Borgen.
She has also appeared in the films Inferno and Limbo and starred in television series such as Westworld and Roadkill.
David Morrissey

Morrissey, 60, is one of the UK’s best-known actors and filmmakers.
He has starred as former prime minster Gordon Brown in the film The Deal and MP Stephen Collins in State of Play.
And on television, he is well-known for his roles in The Walking Dead, Holding On, Our Mutual Friend and Clocking Off.

Edward Brooks is a postgraduate student at the University of Cambridge and so some of the location shots were done in and around the city including at The Backs, an area of lawns and gardens between some of the university colleges and the river.
Filming also took place in and around Windsor in Berkshire and London.
And parts of Kent were used as the backdrop for some of the scenes.
The Eurotunnel Le Shuttle features in the drama, with drone shots of the entrance used. And Little Cheyne Court Wind Farm on the Romney Marsh, between Lydd and Rye, makes an appearance in the series as well.
How many episodes are there?
There are eight episodes in total of the Apple TV+ drama Prime Target.
The first two premiere on the streaming service on Wednesday 22 January.
Then the remaining six will be released weekly until Wednesday 5 March.
Viewers will need to have signed up to Apple TV+ to watch the show, which costs from £8.99 a month. There is a seven-day free trial available.
