According to Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network, Johnson will instead be the next head coach of the Chicago Bears.
Based on numerous reports, the Jaguars, Bears, and the Las Vegas Raiders were the three teams showing the strongest interest in Johnson.
One of the noted key factors throughout this hiring process for Johnson was the importance of having alignment with the general manager. The quarterback position, along with the overall roster, was likely a part of that decision-making process as well.

According to SI’s Albert Breer in his latest edition of the Monday Morning Quarterback, along with Johnson, two other names he mentioned in regards to the Jaguars job were Buccaneers offensive coordinator Liam Coen and former Jets head coach Robert Saleh.
One senior NFL executive said that Coen was “outstanding” in his interview with the team.
The Jaguars, along with all the other teams with head coaching openings, can hold in-person interviews beginning on Monday, as long as the candidates are not coaching in the conference championship games.
