A HORROR thriller series based on a bestselling novel has been axed – after just one season on air.
The show debuted in October 2024, but won’t be returning for more episodes.
Teacup followed a group of people trapped on a rural Georgia ranch, who came together in the face of a mysterious threat.
Eight half-hour episodes have aired on streaming service Peacock.
Its lead cast included Grey’s Anatomy alum Scott Speedman and The Handmaid’s Tale actress Yvonne Strahovski.
Further cast members were Kathy Baker, Boris McGiver, Emilie Bierre, Chaske Spencer and Luciano Leroux.
Teacup was created by Ian McCullough, who has also written for Yellowstone and Chicago Fire.
It was inspired by Robert R. McCammon’s bestselling novel Stinger.
By the end of season one, the survivors had become aware of the evil alien entity known as Assassin.
Assassin could possess humans, meaning any one of the characters may have been compromised at a given moment.
The final dramatic scenes saw the alien possess James (Scott Speedman), who fought the intruder off with everything he had.
However, the others managed to lure him towards the chest freezer located in the barn.
The group pushed James inside and weigh down the lid with feed bags.
James ultimately died, although by having sacrificed himself for his family.
This also presumably meant the end of Assassin, but further episodes may have explained further.
Teacup is available to watch on Peacock.
