Costco employee confirms popular dinner ‘staple’ is discontinued – ‘bummed’ fans say replacement is higher price

A COSTCO employee has confirmed that a popular dinner staple has been discontinued.

Fans of the store’s vanished item have expressed their sadness and shock at the snap move, as they realize how essential it was to their cooking.

Costco’s bags of riced cauliflower have now been taken off the shelves, according to a Reddit poster that spoke to an employee.

reads: “Bad news today… Just found out that Costco has discontinued the bags of riced cauliflower that were such a staple in my home.

“They do now have a riced cauliflower stirfry, but it’s a different product at a different price point. What a bummer.”

Commenters went to the post to share their sadness at the news.

One person wrote: “At least for me, I want a basic rice mix I can incorporate into dishes.

“Not something with preseasonings or other ingredients. It’s a bummer they’re removing it from stores.”

Another Reddit user said: “Bummer! Plain riced cauliflower has been my new favorite smoothie addition.

“Adds no weird flavors but brings some more nutrients and makes it creamy.”

It is not known why Costco decided to remove the product from their stock.

    COSTCO CHECKOUT WOES

Costco has come under fire recently by one of its customers for it’s poor self-checkout system.

“Costco is ridiculous with self checkout,” a shopper fumed in a post on X earlier in January.

While self-checkout is meant to create a swift and efficient payment process for customers, they argued this wasn’t the case at their local store.

Instead, they were consistently stopped by Costco staff for ID verification and receipt checks.

“The few times I’ve attempted to use it I’ve been interrupted by an employee. Why even have it?” the shopper asked.

This has reportedly led them to opt into shopping at Sam’s Club instead.

In addition, the store has faced criticism for the additional checks at the self-service stations, including the newly installed scanners at the entrances of its warehouses.

But the latter has left customers divided.

Those feeling particularly aggrieved are those who say relatives cannot buy items because of the crackdown.

“I absolutely detest the new card scanners on entry!” Natalie Gunther posted on X.

“Terrible experience, please change your policy.”

Gunther complained that it appeared choice had been taken away.

“If I want to send my child or babysitter to get food for me, it’s my membership,” she highlighted.

“I should be allowed to do so.”

The policy was put in place to stop people from abusing the subscription program at Costco.
