OAKLAND – Two women are facing felony charges for allegedly stealing clothing and jewelry from a Hayward department store last week, according to prosecutors.

If convicted, the women could get up to three years in state prison, according to prosecutors.
The alleged theft happened Jan. 11 at the Southland Mall JCPenney. The district attorney’s office said the women took more than $950 worth of clothing and jewelry from the store without paying, but were detained by loss prevention officers.
According to prosecutors, the way the crime was carried out “indicates planning, sophistication or professionalism.”
The women are scheduled to return to superior court for a plea hearing on Feb. 18.
