A 51-year-old bicyclist was seriously injured in a collision with a pickup truck in the Talmadge neighborhood of San Diego Thursday.
San Diego Police Department officers responded at approximately 5:31 p.m. to the 5100 block of Fairmount Avenue where they learned the victim was riding his bicycle northbound in the bicycle lane when a 27-year-old man driving a white 2022 Ford F-250 northbound on Montezuma Road took the transition ramp onto Fairmount Avenue.
The bicyclist approached the transition ramp to Montezuma Road and veered to the right, into the path of the pickup truck, resulting in a rear-end collision, said Officer Jose Perales.
The bicyclist sustained rib fractures, a clavicle fracture, a spine fracture, a fibula fracture and multiple abrasions. Alcohol was not a factor in the collision, police said.
The SDPD’s Traffic Division is investigating the collision. Anyone with information related to the collision was asked to call 858-495-7800 or Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477.
