It’s almost cookie time! Girl Scouts San Diego kicked off the 2025 season with a visit to the San Diego Zoo Wednesday to spend time with this year’s cookie program mascot — the endangered giant pandas.
The giant panda encourages girls to “embrace possibility” during the cookie season, according to GSSD.
The scouts received a private tour of Panda Ridge where they saw Xin Bao, the zoo’s 4-year-old female giant panda, and Yun Chuan, the zoo’s 5-year-old male giant panda. GSSD also presented Xin Bao with an honorary Girl Scout membership card.
Prior to the tour of Panda Ridge, the Girl Scouts heard from female employees of San Diego Zoo Wildlife Alliance who are trailblazers in the fields of animal care and conservation, zoo officials said.
The 2025 Girl Scout Cookie Program begins in San Diego and Imperial counties on Jan. 26 and runs through March 9.
GSSD serves more than 15,000 Girl Scouts in San Diego and Imperial counties, with approximately 1,400 troops in the region. The cookie program is the world’s largest girl-led entrepreneurial program, according to the organization.
