AIRBNB has been blasted as “inhumane” after preventing a customer from rebooking her reservation due to the horrifying fires engulfing Los Angeles.
Customers are left with nowhere to escape from the apocalyptic blaze as tens of thousands of Californians have been forced to evacuate while houses burn to the ground in the Pacific Palisades.
Airbnb customer Ana Mostarac attempted to cancel her reservation in the danger zone of the raging fire.
However, when she tried to rebook a home further away from the flames, Airbnb denied her request.
“As always, their policies failed to account for context,” Mostarac wrote on X.
“The fires keep getting worse, and unfortunately, many others are probably stuck explaining bushfires to someone in another country right about now.”
“It’s inhumane,” she added in response to another X user sharing a similar experience with the rental platform.
The Airbnb support ambassador in contact with Mostarac cited the wildfires not being covered by their Major Disruptive Events Policy, which was created to support customers in the event of unexpected events like natural disasters.
Airbnb hasn’t responded to The U.S. Sun’s request for comment.
