A major redevelopment of Stirling Leisure’s Hamersley Public Golf Course and driving range near Perth in Western Australia is complete, with golfers now able to experience golf the Inrange way following its official re-opening last month.
Inrange’s latest and most sophisticated system, Inrange+, offers an immersive range of multi-player golf games designed for players of all levels – from seasoned golfers to those who might never have touched a club before or played on a full-size course.
The Inrange system consists of radar sensors placed in and around the range that create a series of interlocking radar fields. Once calibrated, they can determine the origin of each ball and track its entire flight, no matter how long or short, in real time. The sensors can track dozens of balls hit simultaneously and provide detailed data on speed, trajectory, path, landing point and more, to within a yard of accuracy.
And, unlike other ball-tracking systems, they are unaffected by ambient conditions such as light, rain, mist or sound. The resulting data is relayed either to an in-bay touchscreen or via the cloud to the Inrange app on a player’s mobile device.
The fully licensed entertainment-focused driving range is the star attraction of the City of Stirling’s $20 million redevelopment of Hamersley Public Golf Course, which officially reo-opened on December 16.
“This is the start of an exciting new era for the Stirling Leisure – Hamersley Public Golf Course,” City of Stirling Mayor Mark Irwin said. “The new driving range and pavilion, in particular, are going to transform this venue and make it more attractive to more members of our community.
“This is the only public golf course in the City of Stirling and I’m proud to say it’s now one of the best public golf courses in WA.”
