Gov. Josh Stein’s cabinet appointees were sworn into office Monday, taking the reins of North Carolina government.
Stein, a Democrat who formerly served as attorney general, was sworn into office on New Year’s Day. He will be formally inaugurated on Jan. 11.
His cabinet appointees come from within state and federal government and the private sector, and include several officials appointed by Stein’s predecessor, Gov. Roy Cooper. They are subject to confirmation by the state Senate.
“Every decision we make, every initiative we launch, has the power to impact the lives of our fellow North Carolinians,” Stein told his appointees and their families at a ceremony at the State Capitol Building. “It’s an incredible, remarkable tradition. That’s why we must serve with integrity, transparency, effort and compassion. Our work matters, and our state’s needs are urgent.”
