New citizen voter registration
The League of Women Voters of Cupertino-Sunnyvale is looking for volunteers to help register new voters who are also new American citizens.
The league will partner with the Santa Clara County Registrar of Voters on Jan. 22 to register new voters after their naturalization ceremonies at the Heritage Theater in Campbell. Volunteers are needed to help cover two shifts, from 8:45 a.m.-noon and 1:15-4 p.m.
Email Pam at [email protected] to sign up and indicate a shift preference. The voter registration will most likely take place outside the theater.
The league will host similar volunteer opportunities on June 25 and Nov. 19.
MedAssist expanding
MedAssist—Santa Clara County’s program to help cover the cost of prescription medications for diabetes, asthma and severe allergies—is streamlining its application process and increasing enrollment in 2025, according to the county’s Health and Hospital Committee (HHC).
Launched in 2022, MedAssist was specifically designed to support county residents who fall into the “missing middle,” earning too much to qualify for most government programs but not enough to afford first-rate insurance or out-of-pocket costs.
The HHC is looking to increase MedAssist enrollment from 2,000 residents in 2024 to 2,500 in 2025 by launching an awareness campaign with an updated website and forms available in eight languages.
To be eligible for MedAssist, Santa Clara County residents must have a valid prescription for diabetes medications, asthma inhalers, or epinephrine auto-injectors (EpiPens); meet annual household gross income limit requirements; meet the individual out-of-pocket healthcare spending requirements; and not be receiving prescription drug coverage or support from a federal or state healthcare program.
Applications for the MedAssist 2025 program year are currently being accepted. For more information, visit www.GetMedAssist.com.
