It isn’t really a “New Year’s Resolution” because I have been doing this for about a month now, but I’d like to continue using Saturday as a day to cook myself a satisfying meal. This week: Chili! Here is the recipe I’ll use via my friend Jim. Leftover chili for lunch pairs well with a Bears-Packers noon kickoff.
I can’t believe we’ve just about reached the end of the line for the 2024 Chicago Bears season. Time flies when you have a five-week head start on finding a new head coach and are projected to have a top-10 pick in the upcoming NFL Draft. The 2024 season began with so much promise before spiraling out of control in ways that we feared it might (but hoped wouldn’t) when Matt Eberflus was retained as head coach. And now, we’re left in a position we know all too well — one in which we enter Week 18 with one eye on the offseason. At this time next year, we’ll be putting the finishing touches on Year 1 of a new head coach and Year 2 of the Caleb Williams Experience. Hopefully, we’ll be closer to resolving the Bears’ stadium issue. After all, 2026 is the year Chicago’s football team could break its lease with the city of Chicago for $84 million. Cornerback Jaylon Johnson earning a Pro Bowl starter’s spot is a silver lining in the dark cloud hovering over this team right now. Johnson earning a second consecutive trip to the NFL’s all-star weekend on the strength of votes of players and coaches is something that feels significant to me. I don’t want to take too much away from it. But I feel as if CB1 getting some well-deserved respect from his peers and coaches around the league is nice.ICYMI: CB1 is Going Back to the Pro Bowl t.co/HoleF3f20s
