John Capodice, a character actor known for both his stage and screen work, has died. He was 83.
The General Hospital alum's death was announced via an obituary posted to a New Jersey funeral home's website at the end of the year, revealing that he passed away on Monday, Dec. 30—just five days after his birthday. A cause of death was not listed.
Prior to launching his acting career, Capodice was enlisted in the Army from 1964 to 1966, where he served in Korea.

His first acting credits, according to IMDb, were as a pedestrian in the 1978 film Rush It and as Lloyd Lord in several episodes of Ryan's Hope the same year. He went on to secure roles in hit films like Ace Ventura: Pet Detective, Speed, Independence Day, and more, while you may also recognize him from guest appearances on Melrose Place, Will & Grace, Angel, The West Wing, Boy Meets World, CSI, and Seinfeld, among others.
Additionally, he was seen in the 1985 Broadway play Requiem for a Heavyweight, along with several Off-Broadway productions.
Capodice was "a devoted husband, father and grandfather," as described in his obituary. He is survived by his wife, Jane, daughters Tessa and Cassandra, and four grandchildren: David, Jake, Frankie and Giuliana.
Visiting hours are scheduled in New Jersey later this month before Capodice's funeral takes place in New York State. Fans can make donations in his memory to Rockland Homes for Heroes, a charity aiming to "eliminate Veteran homelessness in New York’s mid-Hudson Valley," according to its website.
