This marks India’s 14th Test at the SCG, having first played there in December 1947 during their maiden tour of Australia. One of the world’s oldest cricket grounds, the SCG hosted its first Test match in February 1882, becoming the venue for the second match of India’s 1947/48 tour. However, the game was largely uneventful due to heavy rain, which caused disruptions throughout the match. The SCG has since become a historic and iconic venue in world cricket.

Sachin Tendulkar holds the record as India’s highest run-scorer in Test matches at the SCG, accumulating an impressive 785 runs across nine innings. His exceptional average of 157.00 includes three centuries and two half-centuries. Rishabh Pant also boasts an excellent average of 78.07, with a total of 292 runs.
