‘E.T.’ Actress Looks Unrecognizable in Rare Sighting in Los Angeles

Dee Wallace was recently photographed during a rare sighting in Southern California, though some fans of her most famous movie might have found it difficult to identify her if they had passed her on the street.

Wallace, who played Mary Taylor in Steven Spielberg’s 1982 science fiction family classic E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, looked practically unrecognizable when a photographer spotted her in Los Angeles last week. Photos of her public outing were obtained by The Daily Mail and published on Sunday, Dec. 29.

The Cujo actress, who celebrated her 76th birthday earlier this month, was seen walking a dog through a neighborhood on Thursday, Dec. 26. She wore her blonde hair cropped short and kept the sun out of her eyes with a large pair of dark sunglasses.

Like many others enjoying a relaxing week between Christmas and New Year’s Day, Wallace embraced a comfortable look as she walked around in a light gray sweatshirt and white sweatpants. She completed her walking outfit with a pair of black sneakers.

Wallace isn’t often spotted out in public while conducting personal business, though she did attend a handful of press events earlier this year to promote various projects. While E.T. is perhaps her most famous movie, Wallace garnered additional fame throughout her busy career for her various “scream queen” roles as she appeared in horror movies such as 1977’s The Hills Have Eyes, 1986’s Critters and the 2007 remake of Halloween, among many others.

Wallace has appeared in dozens of films and TV shows over the course of her career in Hollywood. Her most recent role in the horror genre was in Stream, a film that was released earlier this year. She also appeared in last year’s Fatal Attraction, the Paramount+ series based on the 1987 thriller of the same name.
