High Plains Housing Development broke ground in June on StarRise Apartments at North Weld Village. StarRise will consist of 148 affordable housing units with 58 permanent supportive housing units, which aim to support people experiencing chronic homelessness. Phase 1 is expected to be completed in November 2025, and the remaining units will be completed over the next five years.
Additionally, Greeley-Weld Habitat for Humanity began construction of Hope Springs in May. The neighborhood will consist of 491 affordable housing units that are expected to be completed by 2029.
In April, the city of Greeley provided funding to keep the United Way of Weld County’s homeless shelter, which is normally open only for the cold weather season, open through July 31. In October, Greeley City Council allocated $259,285 from the 2025 budget to support the shelter staying open year-round, though United Way will need additional funding to achieve this goal.
