SCOTTIE SCHEFFLER was rushed to hospital on Christmas day following a freak accident.
And it means the golf star will miss the first PGA Tour event of 2025.
Scheffler had been due to compete at the season-opening tournament, The Sentry, in Hawaii from January 2-5.
But the World No.1 is now facing a month on the sidelines after getting pieces of glass stuck in his hand while preparing Christmas dinner.
Small glass fragments managed to embed themselves into his right hand, forcing him to undergo surgery at hospital.
Scheffler’s manager, Blake Smith, explained in a statement on Friday evening: “On Christmas Day while preparing dinner, Scottie sustained a puncture wound to the palm of his right hand from a broken glass.
“Small glass fragments remained in the palm which required surgery.
“He has been told that he should be back to 100% in three to four weeks.
“Unfortunately, he will have to withdraw from The Sentry.
“His next scheduled tournament is The American Express.”
