AUSTIN (KXAN) -- American Airlines is reportedly experiencing delays on the morning of Christmas Eve due to what the airline called a "technical issue."
The Fort Worth-based international airline posted on X at 5:37 a.m. that it was "currently experiencing a technical issue with all American Airlines flights." was in response to a passenger reporting their plane, headed from St. Louis to Miami, was delayed.
The Federal Aviation Administration issued a ground stop for all American Airlines flights Tuesday morning.
In another reply, the airline said, "Our team is currently working to get this done. An estimated timeframe has not been provided, but they're trying to fix it in the shortest possible time."
The website DownDetector, which tracks issues and outages, showed a spike in outage reports related to American Airlines Tuesday morning starting around 5 a.m. An update shortly after 6 a.m. showed just over 2,000 reports about the airline.
A public information officer with the Austin-Bergstrom International Airport said airport staff is aware of the issue but that AUS hadn't seen any impacts yet.
