GREENSBORO, N.C. (WGHP) — A Greensboro police officer is involved in the shooting that took place at a Food Lion on Lawndale Drive in Greensboro on Monday, according to the Greensboro Police Department.
Greensboro City Councilmember Zack Matheny was the first to tell FOX8 that it was a shooting that is being investigated.
Greensboro police say they got a report about a possible person inside the Food Lion with a handgun at 10:45 a.m. on Monday.
Police say the shooting took place inside the Food Lion.
Camera footage from DriveNC.gov shows a large police presence in the area.
Police presence on Lawndale Drive in Greensboro (DriveNC)The exit onto Lawndale Drive off of Interstate 840 is also shut down.
GPD will be holding a press conference at 3 p.m. to share more information on the officer-involved shooting. That press conference will be streamed live here on MyFOX8.com
