Saudi deputy foreign minister inaugurates consular services in Sudan

December 21, 2024 (PORT SUDAN) – Saudi Deputy Foreign Minister Waleed El Khereiji inaugurated the consular office at his country’s embassy in Sudan on Saturday. During his meeting with El Khereiji, in the presence of Foreign Minister Ali Youssif, Chairman of the Sovereignty Council Abdel Fattah al-Burhan discussed ways to strengthen and enhance Sudanese-Saudi relations and areas of bilateral cooperation. Al-Khuraiji said that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is keen on establishing security and stability in Sudan. The visiting official El Khereiji, Sudanese Foreign Minister Ali Youssef, and the Saudi Ambassador to Sudan, Ali bin Hassan, inaugurated the consular office at the Saudi embassy in Port Sudan in eastern Sudan. Professor Salah Eldin Farajallah was issued the first entry visa to Saudi Arabia. The consular section of the embassy is scheduled to officially begin operations at the end of the first week of January 2025. Since the closure of the Saudi embassy in Khartoum, Sudanese citizens have been forced to travel to Eritrea, Ethiopia, Uganda, and other countries to obtain visas for personal, family, and work visits, which has doubled the financial cost.
