CHARLOTTE (CHARLOTTE SPORTS LIVE) — West Charlotte High School's football team is celebrating its first state championship in nearly thirty years. The mighty Lions won the 3A state title over Seventy-First High School, 14 to 7 on Saturday.
Jamouri Nichols had a near-perfect day at quarterback throwing 12-13 for 94 yards and two touchdowns.
West Charlotte's first score happened in the first quarter when Nichols found KD Cotton in the endzone to make the score 7-nothing. After surrendering the tieing touchdown in the second quarter, the mighty Lions would take the lead once and for all in the fourth off a 10-yard throw to Donte Nicholson.
Deandre Nance of Seventy-First threw 10-20 for 142 yards in a losing effort.
