Police last month seized about 6,000 counterfeit pills containing fentanyl and about 11 pounds of methamphetamine from a man out on parole after a traffic stop in Greeley.
Carlos Antonio Gonzalez-Del Hoyo, 42, was stopped by Greeley Police Department SWAT members Nov. 19 while driving his vehicle on U.S. 34 in Greeley, according to a news release Greeley police issued on Friday.
Police said the Weld County Drug Task Force began an investigation of Gonzalez-Del Hoyo in September. He was reported to have been selling large quantities of drugs in Weld County and the region.
A police K-9 officer was called to assist with the traffic stop, and a dog alerted officers to the odor of drugs inside of Gonzalez-Del Hoyo’s vehicle. The stop was made in the 4700 block of U.S. 34, the release said.
Gonzalez-Del Hoyo was arrested for drug-related charges and booked into the Weld County Jail. Police do not plan to release any additional information on the case.
Anyone with information on this case who has not been interviewed by officers is asked to contact Greeley Police Commander Scott Smith at 970-351-5211.
Colorado Department of Corrections lists three current convictions for Gonzalez-Del Hoyo over the past two years, including two Adams County cases and one Denver County case.
Gonzalez-Del Hoyo has a disposition hearing scheduled for 9:30 a.m. Jan. 21 in Weld District Court.
