SACRAMENTO – A man was sentenced to 40 years to life in prison for shooting and killing his wife at a Sacramento County apartment in 2020, prosecutors said on Thursday.
Shakel Samier Beasley pled no contest to second-degree murder and admitted to a firearm allegation and received his sentencing on Wednesday, the Sacramento County District Attorney's Office said.
The sheriff's office responded to the Meridian Terrace Apartments on the 5700 block of Callie Lane a few days before Christmas in 2020.

The victim's brother said she was a mother to four children. They were asleep in the apartment when the shooting happened.
